What is a hackathon?


A hackathon is a technology-focused event where individuals and teams work on new projects in a short period of time. You can build anything you want. An app, a robot, a website. The only limit is your imagination!


What is Hack for the People?


Hack For The People is an intercollegiate hackathon initiative designed to engage students in tackling some of the world’s largest problems like social/economic/political/environmental issues, which will be mentored by experts.


I have never participated in a hackathon. Can I still join?


Of course! Everyone begins somewhere, right? This hackathon is beginner friendly and we welcome anyone interested in participating regardless of experience. Plus, we will have workshops and mentors to help you along the way.


Where will this be hosted?


This hackathon is entirely online, ensuring that you can participate from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a computer with internet access.


When will this take place?


August 21st-23rd.


Who can participate?


Anyone in high school and up can participate! There are no restrictions on experience or location.


Are there prizes?


Yes, of course! Please check back closer to the date of the event for our finalized list of prizes.


What’s the cost?


Nothing! Absolutely no fees and no hidden charges.


How will this work?


The Coronavirus Visualization Community’s Intercollegiate Discord server will be used as a platform to host the hackathon event. Further details will be provided closer to the event, make sure to check back later!
